Project description
Absence of organized activities for Children during their free time and long holiday’s time has been contributing to various numbers of social problems in the community including bad behaviors and manners, occupied by activities that bring negativity to the kids. This project is therefore organized in cooperation will local community schools to respond to the need. It is expected that this project will provide opportunity for the Children from the age of 3-14 to effective utilize their holiday time by engaging in activities that support their academic, social development and creativity.
Project Activities
Volunteers will participate in the following outlined activities: Academic development: Joining remedial classes on various subjects, holiday home works and getting ready for the coming semester; Love nature: Nature tour in the community to discover various animals, insects, worms and plants and appreciate the local ecosystem; Hands-on: Establishment of home garden, ornamental and vegetable planting, composting, garden etc. ; Sports: Indoor and outdoor games that will stimulate learning, team building and activeness.; Excursions: opportunity Children to realize the beauty and natural attractions of their own country for the first time (Waterfalls, Lakes, and Wildlife safari).
Study part
Volunteers will participate in a number of workshops, discussions, educational tours and social events aiming to provide an opportunity to explore, understand, challenge and take possible actions in addressing challenges affecting Children development. You are encouraged to research from your home Country-community and bring information for sharing.

Accommodation and meals
Volunteers will share simple rooms at the communal house in the community. There are running water and electricity. The facility in located in a very strategic point to view highest Mountain in Africa- Kilimanjaro. Meals are mostly organic both vegetarian and non-vegetarian.
Location of the Project
Marera is one of the communities located along the sloops of Mt. Kilimanjaro in the Northern Tanzania. It is high density community; people are mostly engaged in coffee and Banana farming, dairy farming and business. The community is located about 45km from the town center (Moshi) and accessible by private and public transport. Having sharing boarder with Kilimanjaro National Park, the landscape is ever green throughout the year.
Free time activities
Possibilities are hiking to Kilimanjaro gate, eco and cultural tourism in Chagga and Masai community, Swimming & Relaxing at Lake Chala and Wildlife safari. (Ngorongoro Creator, Lake Manyara and Tarangire National parks). More details can be provided on request.
Special Requirements
Volunteers should be comfortable working outdoors and getting messy, willing to share leadership roles, and having a sense of adventure. Volunteers are expected as well to be open minded, flexible and working under minimum supervision.
Language
The official languages of the project are English and Kiswahili. You do not have to be fluently.
Terminal
Volunteers will be picked up at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Bus station within Moshi town.
