RUCHI (Human Centre for Human Interests) is an indian organization committed to the development of rural Northern India, through the promotion of international volunteering, the implementation of educational project and the empowerment of local communities.
Industrialisation & Slum of Baddi is given as a topic which enables the voluntourists to learn about the problems caused by industrialisation and also the interventions that are been taken at ground level to counter them by NGOs and other stakeholders involved. During this experience the voluntourists will have the chance to explore some of the most remote parts of Northern India, learn about the problems caused by industrialisation, and take part in educational and agricultural activities which promote environmental sustainability and social change.
The voluntourists will meet with women self-help group and discover their small entrepreneurship projects. They will visit the learning centre for kids operated in the slum of Baddi, where they can be involved in teaching or animating activities. Participants would assist in the organic farm promoted by RUCHI as a sustainable substitute to chemical based commercial farming which is widely practiced there. Moreover, the voluntourists will visit Chandigarh and Kasauli and will participate to the popular Hindu festivals, Dussehra, celebrated with pomp and gaiety. The VolunTour in India, thanks to meeting with stakeholders and local communities, volunteering activities and sightseeing, represents a unique opportunity to discover the authentic Indian culture and lifestyle.
The accommodation during the journey will be in the headquarter of RUCHI in double rooms with attached bathroom and toilettes. Will be provided 3 meals per day with traditional Indian Vegetarian and Non Vegetarian food.
The partecipation fee is 400€ per person that cover food and accommodation, local transportation, material cost for the construction when needed, administration charge.
Furthermore after the selection it will be necessary to pay the fee of 80€ to Associazione Joint that include partecipant fee 50€ and the annual iscription to the association.
