KIPEPEO COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM
Kipepeo Community Empowerment Program is a community Based Organization initiated in October 2009 to help spearhead community driven development initiatives and enable needy community groups participate in integrated development to achieve quality livelihood from orphanage and rehabilitation of street children’s, support vulnerable children, voluntary work to various community projects, community savings and loaning , HIV/AIDS trainings & awareness campaigns, capacity building, organic farming, fish farming, clay works, computer services and Eco-Tourism and environmental management.
The program is also designed to respond to Emuhaya youths’ needs and assets; the KCEP Project aims to empower youth to make sound career and life decisions as they transition from high school to the next phase of their lives. The project is also building the capacity of local institutions and networks to sustain the much-needed services that KCEP will provide. Specifically, the KCEP Project intends to offers youth a series of inter-connected interventions to: build skills, facilitate appropriate career choices, provide employment and/or income generating opportunities, bridge technical and university education opportunities and provide fun and safe spaces.

Mission: To support orphans, vulnerable children and street children through a rehabilitation centre and basic necessities and facilitate needy community groups to participate in integrated activities to achieve quality livelihood.
Duration of the project: The program will run for a minimum of 1 month and a maximum of 6 months. The program is running throughout the year.
Orientation: Orientation meeting will take place in Nairobi before proceeding to the project.
Accommodation: Volunteers will be accommodated by a member of the community or staff member within a walking distance to the project. Meals will be provided in the host family
Location: Vihiga county, Emuhaya District close to luanda market western Kenya.
Age range: 18 and over
Participation fee:600 Euros for 3 months
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Project management and capacity building; facilitation of learning programs at the KCEP centre; establishment of structures at the groups farm; micro finance development for community groups (training, monitoring, supervision, reporting); empowering minors to be self-reliant i.e. life skills lessons; Elementary child care in the groups community school; community outreach for environmental conservation initiatives; guidance and counseling for rehabilitated street girls; motivational speaking especially to the girls in community schools; educational development needs of the children i.e. teaching; training and mentoring youth; food preparation and serving; computer training for community youth.
