Genesis has a vision of being the best provider Complementary Education (CE) and continuing Education in Africa. To this end, we provide complementary education to out of schoolchildren and youth in the urban slums, in Africa, to enable them to effectively participate in Africa’s sustainable development.

Mission Statement

 70% of the Nairobi’s population lives in slums. By 2050, nearly 90% of the world’s urban population will live in slums. The urgency of this matter through a transformative approach is vital!

We are therefore seeking to holistically empower and equip the humanity by developing the local community through Education, Evangelism and Economic empowerment as a result positively impact the lives of the populace in the urban slums in Africa who will subsequently advance the wider community having been empowered socio-economically hence transforming their respective communities.

Vision Statement

Our main objective is to build the capacity of the orphaned, vulnerable children and out of school youth, to rise up to be leaders in their different spheres of influence and thereby standing as role models in the next generation.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The volunteers will be providing transformation education, offering and strengthening strong health programme, teaching English, computer classes.

 

Language: English

Duration of the project: This is a 3-month long program, running January-March, May-July and September-November because of the schedule of the public schools in Kenya. April, August and December are school holidays.

Orientation: Orientation meeting will take place in Nairobi before proceeding to the project.

Accommodation: At a host family with electricity and tape water and shower

Location: Nairobi, is located in Mathare slum

Participation fee: 600 Euros for 3 months

Leisure activities: Visiting giraffe center, national museum, national park  mathare, slum.

Special requirements: The participants should have a positive attitude, be ready to adopt and enjoy simple living conditions, and be flexible and patient. However, specialized skills and expertise (such as teaching math, micro finance).
