Workcamp supporting education in Charlotte Memorial Educational Centre

CHARLOTTE MEMORIAL EDUCATION & CULTURE     

It is a school sponsored by Young Voluntary Development Workers Group – the mother and the Charlotte Memorial Educational Centre both self help projects within the project’s locality.

 

Duration of the project: 1 to 6 months. The program is running January-June and July- December.

Orientation:  Orientation meeting will take place in Nairobi before proceeding to the project.

Accommodation: Accommodation is provided in the hostel in the orphanage or host family, tap water and electricity available.

Location: Kisumu County, Ahero sub- county, western Kenya.

Leisure time: Excursions at Kakamega Tropical Rain forest for beautiful sunrise and sun set, Lake Victoria for boat ride, hippo point and bird watch in Kisumu, visit kit mikai, crying stone.

Age range: 18 and over

Participation fee: 600 Euros for 3 months

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Volunteers will support the teachers and share culture and other activities in the classrooms in the morning. There will also be opportunity to do sports and play with the children. In the afternoon volunteers will work with children, teaching English, assisting teaching in daily classes, providing general care and assistance in looking after the children; this will involve playing games, teaching English as basic life skills, feeding the children, playing with them games and sport.
